Hawaii bankruptcies down 25.6% in June

Hawaii saw a total of 276 bankruptcy filings in June, down 25.6 percent from the 371 filings recorded in June 2010, according to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Hawaii.

Out of the total number of filings, there were 208 Chapter 7 cases filed last month, down 32.2 percent from 307 cases in June of last year. There were also 61 Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings in June, down 1.6 percent from the 62 filings recorded a year ago.

In addition, there were seven Chapter 11 cases filed last month, which was an increase from the two cases recorded in June 2010, according to PBN research.
