Developer Howard Bulloch claims he will build the tallest observation wheel in the northern hemisphere on 38 acres across from Mandalay Bay resort on the south end of the Las Vegas strip. The latest attraction planned for the Las Vegas strip is a 500 foot tall ferris wheel.
With an expected opening in late 2012, the wheel will have 40 gondolas each accommodating 25 people in world-class luxury enjoying an unprecedented view of the famous boulevard. County officials have already cleared the project and issued the necessary permits while aviation officials recently gave their blessings to the 50 story tall structure, aptly named Skyvue.
Around the base of the rotating behemoth will be 200,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space. Located in the center of the $175 million wheel will be an LED display larger than a football field. Cost for taking a spin on the Skyvue is projected to be $20 to $25.
Caesars Entertainment is also planning a second giant wheel to be located between their Imperial Palace and Flamingo properties on the Las Vegas strip with an expected 2013 completion.
